Atlassian End of Life Server Licenses

At the end of 2020, Atlassian announced that they will end support for Server products on February 15,2024. Atlassian stopped selling new licences for all server products such as Jira, Confluence or Bitbucket in February 2021. Development has also been shut down and only support and patches will be offered until February 2024. The sale of upgrades or downgrades of user licences for products of the server model is no longer possible as of 15 February 2022. New apps for Server can still be purchased until February 15, 2023.

Products from linkyard

The use cases for Atlassian products are generally quite broad. A 1:1 alternative solution cannot be offered in every case. Migration to Data Center

Data Center offers everything for a highly available operation and meets the highest security requirements. Even in this operating model, we can ensure that all your data remains in Switzerland. This is assured by our "swiss hosting" label from swiss made software.

However, for the use of the data centre licensing model, high minimum user numbers, for example 500 users for Jira software and Confluence, must be licensed. This is why these variants are usually economically unattractive for smaller organisations.

In order to be able to offer alternatives to these customers as well, we have expanded our portfolio. We are now an implementation partner of JetBrains, the manufacturer of well-known developer tools such as IntelliJ IDEA or TeamCity. With YouTrack, we can offer a cost-effective solution to Jira. We have also added GitLab, Perdoo and our self-developed wiki Phonemos to our portfolio. Individual additions are still under consideration.

On premise installations are also possible, in which case we can offer you our support and additional SLA packages.

Migration to Atlassian Cloud

The Atlassian Cloud is an alternative for organisations that do not have specific requirements regarding the location of their data. For some organisations, it can be a challenge if the Atlassian Cloud cannot be used for regulatory reasons, for example because personal data could be passed on to app manufacturers distributed all over the world. So if your data or the data of subcontractors may only be stored in Europe or Switzerland, the Atlassian Cloud is not an alternative. Details on data protection in the Atlassian Cloud can be found here. In this case, the only option is to switch to an alternative product or to the data centre model.

How do I switch from my existing instance to the successor solution?

Each of the server alternatives requires a migration of the data to the new solution. Depending on the specific situation, one option or a mixture of different options may turn out to be the most suitable path, depending on the range of functions.
