Atlassian End of Life server licenses
At the end of 2020, Atlassian announced that it would end of life server licenses by February 2024. In February 2021, Atlassian stopped selling new licenses for all server products such as Jira, Confluence or Bitbucket. Development has also shut down and only support and patches will be offered until February 2024. It is no longer possible to sell upgrades or downgrades of user licenses for server model products since February 15, 2022. As a result, existing server licenses can no longer be extended or reduced. New apps for servers can still be purchased until February 15, 2023.
Stay with Atlassian or look for Atlassian alternatives?
Once Atlassian has decided, we will be happy to support you and show you possible solutions.
Products from linkyard
The use cases for Atlassian products are generally quite broad. A 1:1 alternative solution cannot always be offered. However, there are very extensive tools on the market that also offer great options. linkyard works very closely with customers and can offer individual developments based on the requirements. We have a wide range of alternatives for your wiki or project management tool. Some of the software is programmed in-house so that we can react quickly to customer requirements and implement them. Just contact us and make a non-binding appointment to discuss your alternatives.
Migrate to data center
Data Center offers everything for highly available operation and meets the highest security requirements. Even in this operating model, we can ensure that all your data remains in Switzerland. Our “swiss hosting” label from Swiss made software assures you of this.
However, high minimum user numbers, such as 500 users for Jira Software and Confluence, must be licensed to use the data center licensing model. Which is why these variants are usually economically unattractive for smaller organizations.
In order to be able to offer alternatives to these customers as well, we have expanded our portfolio. For example, we are a new implementation partner of JetBrains, the manufacturer of well-known developer tools such as IntelliJ IDEA or TeamCity. With YouTrack, we can offer a cost-effective solution to Jira in this way. Further to the portfolio, we have GitLab, Perdoo and our self-developed wiki Phonemos recorded. Individual additions are still under review.
On-premise installations are also possible, where we can offer you support and additional SLA packages.
Migrate to Atlassian Cloud
The Atlassian Cloud is an alternative for companies that have no special requirements regarding the location of their data. For some organizations, it can sometimes be a challenge if the Atlassian Cloud cannot be used for regulatory reasons, for example because personal data could be passed on to app manufacturers spread all over the world. So if your data or the data from sub-suppliers can only be stored in Europe or Switzerland, the Atlassian Cloud is no alternative. Details about data protection in the Atlassian Cloud can be found here. The only option here is to switch to an alternative product or to a data center model.
How do I get from my existing instance to the succession solution?
Each of the server alternatives requires data to be migrated to the new solution. Depending on the specific situation, an option or a mixture of options may prove to be the most suitable way, depending on the range of functions. In any case, we saw and implemented all variants in 2021. As a long-standing Atlassian Gold Partner, we can help you in many different areas. We can help you with migrations so that you only have one point of contact for your tools and support.
As a full service provider, we aim to support the entire life cycle of your products. This includes:
- Migrations - to Data Center/Atlassian Cloud/Alternative Tool
- archiving server instances
- Customizing
- Custom Development
