Nature lover and sports enthusiast Benjamin is our new software engineer

What is your role at Linkyard and what will your work look like?

As a software engineer, I develop, test and document code in the various languages of the Linkyard Technology stack. Together with my colleagues, I develop technically appropriate solutions for the requirements of our customers.

The requirements resulting from business processes are usually represented using graphical user interfaces and workflows supported by them. My task is to develop the underlying interfaces, which supply the user interfaces with data, carry out various calculations and implement integrations with third-party systems.

Describe your career path

From 2004 to 2008, I studied computer science and business administration in a dual system. In my diploma thesis, I focused on model-driven software development and data storage.

In 2008, I left the large corporation, in whose IT department I primarily wrote Java code in order to gain new experience in smaller companies with a stronger technical focus. As a freelancer, I primarily supported new developments and migrations of existing software landscapes. In addition to Java, Groovy and Spring, Scala, Node.js and Typescript were used. In addition, I have trained myself technologically in various open source projects, tried out new frameworks or programming languages as well as design patterns, and learned from other developers' code.

Over time, I went from backend to full stack developer and have now found my own programming style.

How would you describe yourself in one sentence?

User-friendly with existing blemishes in an incremental process of self-development.

What do you enjoy about your free time?

Nature with its many forms and creatures.

The movement in the form of qi gong, taiji, improvisational dance and artistry and some other sports.

Make music and sing.

Why are rainbows round?

Because light of different colors is diffracted to different degrees when water droplets pass (outside of my working hours, I also have more humorous answers to offer).
